Training

The club has winter and summer timetables for un/coached sessions.

The following is the basic plan but please note that run and cycle sessions can change week by week owing to the availability of the coaches or the weather and you should keep an eye on the ‘News’ page, emails and facebook for any changes and occasional informal sessions of various kinds.

If you are are interested in finding out a bit more about triathlons, or are keen just to have a go at swimming for example then the Monday pool session is good one to try. One lane is reserved for beginners/improvers, so if you can swim 50m (even if you need to take a breather half-way) that is good enough to start (particularly if it is front-crawl) and we will help you go further and maybe even faster.

Winter:

Monday:

  • 1900-2000hr Coached swimming at the Swan Centre – 3 reserved lanes. Do not pay at the Centre’s Reception Desk, instead give £3.50 to club rep before the session starts (this also acts as a ‘register’ for health & safety purposes).

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

  • 1800-1930hr Eyemouth Hills cycle session with Puffin Cycling.
  • 1900-2000hr Swimming at the Swan Centre – 2 reserved lanes. Pay at Swan Centre’s Reception Desk (£4 for a 1-off entry).

Thursday:

  • 1850-2000hr spinning session, preceeded by or followed by a core training session at the Swan Centre, (see FB page for latest) or
  • 1900-2000hr Run from the Swan Centre (session shared with Tweed Striders)

Although pool swims are based at the Swan Centre in Berwick-Upon-Tweed where you can enhance your breathing and improve your stroke efficiency under the guidance of the coaches, open water swimming takes place as part of the summer training timetable and is a fantastic way to improve confidence in the water whilst socialising with other club members. The open water swimming takes place in some of Northumberland’s fantastic sea and river locations, providing stunning views and support for the safety of the club’s less experienced swimmers.
