From the highest peak in England and Wales to the Rolling Border Hills
Steve Flook and David Lauckner were, metaphorically, first to bat for Tweed Striders on Saturday 28 October. Steve was in Wales for the demanding and spectacular Brooks Snowdonia Marathon. This event is an extremely challenging 26.2 miles run over road and farm tracks. The course encircles Snowdon and encompasses a total climb of 838m as well as the rugged and demanding terrain of Snowdonia itself. Steve finished in a very good 4.00.19, putting him in the top 25%, and, in the process, successfully achieved his personal goal of running a marathon in each of the home nations. Meanwhile, slightly nearer to home, David opened the account for his team, One Gene Pool, in the Jedburgh Three Peaks Ultramarathon Relay by running the first (10 mile) leg before passing the baton safely on to family members.
Jedburgh was once again the place to be on Sunday with Ceri Leather, Emma Jones-Watson and Karen Roughead running in the very popular 10k. Emma brought the trio home in fine style - 45.04 (PB), 6th in age group, 8th lady and 35th (out of 328). Next to take the tape was Karen Roughead with Ceri Leather in hot pursuit (52.14, 4th in age group and 52.45 PB respectively). Great running from everyone over the weekend !
The Jedburgh Running Festival traditionally signals the end of the summer road running season and the next date in the Tweed Striders racing calendar is cross-country - Sunday 5 November and the first leg of the Borders Cross-Country Series at Lauder.
Dates for 2018.

Hi All, I have negotiated with our tri suit provider on a deal with the hoodies. As a result this will be a one off order. It will probably be a year or two before we place another one. So I suggest if you want one, or think you might want one, now is the time to say! They will be in the region of £28, but the more we order the better the deal we will get. Also they are a unisex sports fit and close fitting, so it may be an idea to size up if you want more room... I have attached the design and sizes. Please confirm to me how many you want and the size required in the comments below. Early Christmas present?

Hi Everyone, I have had a few enquiries about the club hoodie. I will place a group order at the end of the month, so if you would like one, let me know your size please. I’ll put a picture of the Hoodie on here in the next few days. Once I get the final numbers, I’ll confirm the price. ...

Day 3. The TE North East Technical Official of the Year.
Tweed Tri Club's David Lauckner.
Dave is another great role model in what the region wants in its TO's. He wanted to give something back to his club and the sport but didn't want to do the coaching (he coaches at a different sport so likes to use his time with Tweed Tri Club as an athlete).
He is a newly qualified RTO (old level 2 equivalent) and has shown dedication and commitment in going to get qualified up in Scotland. He has subsequently made himself available to officiate in both countries.
Dave can't make the awards night so this is your chance to congratulate him.
Hi all, I'd like to come down and try out my first swim session with you tomorrow night if possible? What time do you meet etc.? ...

Yesterday Tony Lummis and I completed the Viridian Daventry Sprint Triathlon and I was stunned to win the Female 60-69Age Group. At times when alone I had to remind myself it was a race! Achieved some personal records so many thanks to all at Tweed Triathlon Club without whom I could never have done this. ...
Just in case anyone is still trying to swim in ladyburn lake at Druridge Bay, Alnwick Tri Club have tested the water as it was suspected there was blue-green algae. The algae results are not back yet but the bacteria enterococcus was found to be so high it was off the scale. All lake swimming has been cancelled for the rest of the season and everyone is advised not to swim there.
Lovely to swim with you guys tonight. I measured it on an OS map, and it's deffo 500m long, so a nice little k without us really noticing! Here's my "the camera never lies" photo! ...
